As challenges go in institutional and commercial facilities, the recently completed roof upgrade on the Harry A. Gampel Pavilion at the University of Connecticut was a doozy. Managers had known for years that the pavilion — home to the 11-time women’s champion and five-time men’s champion Huskies basketball teams — needed repairs. But when the time came to draw up plans for the upgrade and make it happen, they realized just how large the challenge was going to be.
