How Much Data Is Too Much Data?

A QuickRead we published on FNet earlier this week asks that very question - one for which we're not sure there's a universal answer. How much data you need to run your operation depends on several factors: the size of your building(s), the size of your staff, the technological capabilities of your systems, etc. In many cases, too much data is just as bad as not enough data — you're left swimming in it, and it is therefore rendered meaningless. So what strategies have you found to ensure that your systems are giving you not just the right amount of data, but data in the format that you need to make decisions?
