With Trump planning to roll back many of the climate change initiatives — like the Clean Power Plan — instituted by President Obama, many at the state and local level are taking action of their own to move away from dirty energy. Recently, Chicago announced it'll move to 100 percent renewable energy for its public buildings by 2025 — which will make Chicago (my home, my kind of town!) the biggest city in the country to power all its public buildings with all renewable energy. Local goals like this are critical to slowing the effects of global climate change. Local and state governments, and the private sector, must continue pushing back against federal inaction and climate protection rollbacks.
