Reducing loads on a building locks in energy savings for the life of a building. For example, "right lighting" involves looking at the amount of light a space really needs, rather than relying on old designs or rules of thumb that result in a space being overlit, and then changing the lighting layout to deliver only the amount of light needed. Right lighting is a way to reduce energy use because the revised layout will outlast any single lamp. lt will also to improve lighting quality by reducing glare and by adding light if needed.
